About Potomac, MD Real Estate

The “Beverly Hills” of Montgomery County

Located along the Potomac River, Potomac is situated between southern Maryland and Northern Virginia. This vibrant city has plenty to offer, from outdoor excursions to a dedication to the arts to the stunning homes in the neighborhoods. Living here allows you to enjoy the conveniences of all the various parts of Montgomery County and the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area.

The land that is now considered Potomac was first settled by Edward Offutt in 1714. This happened as a result of Offutt receiving a 600-acre land grant. By the Civil War, the town was made up of about 100 residents. As the 20th century rolled around, Potomac started to experience substantial growth and has since evolved into the bustling city it is today.

A drive through this thoughtfully designed town will reveal many architectural styles. Although the area has been settled since the early 1700s, the majority of homes were built in the 1950s. The styles of homes often resemble the quaint “villa” style or French Chateau feel.
Many luxurious custom build homes also make up the landscape here.
